Privacy Policy

RuneDiff has no user accounts and never asks for your name, email or other personal details. This page explains what data is processed when you visit, by whom, and the choices you have.
at any time, or use the link in the footer of every page.
Your choices depend on where you are
To show the right options, the site looks up the country (and, in the US, the state) your connection comes from. Our host, Cloudflare, works this out from your IP address; the site only receives the country and state codes and does not store them anywhere except your own browser for the current visit. If the location can't be determined, you get the strictest option (the EEA one).
- EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland: nothing beyond what is strictly necessary is used until you agree. A banner lets you accept, reject or choose advertising and analytics separately. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you still see ads, just not personalised ones.
- United States: no banner. You can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is treated as that opt-out automatically, everywhere.
- Everywhere else: no banner. You can still opt out of personalised ads with "Privacy choices" in the footer.
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (key rd-consent) so you aren't asked again. Clearing site data resets it. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the banner may be provided by Google's certified consent tool (Google Privacy & messaging), which stores your choice in its own cookie as an IAB TCF consent string.
Advertising
RuneDiff is free and funded by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and your IP address and device information, to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud. If you allow it (or, outside the EEA/UK/CH, unless you opt out), ads may be personalised based on your visits to this and other sites. Otherwise Google serves non-personalised ads based on the page you are reading. Google's use of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can manage Google ad personalisation at Google My Ad Center.
The site passes your choice to Google through Google Consent Mode, and in the EEA/UK/CH through the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework when Google's consent tool is used.
Analytics
To see which pages are useful we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics and/or Plausible Analytics. Both are cookieless: they don't set cookies, don't build profiles and don't follow you across sites. They record the page, referrer, country, browser and device type, and page-load performance, aggregated into totals. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland they run only if you allow analytics.
Hosting and logs
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, under its own privacy policy. We don't keep our own access logs.
Game data from Riot Games
Builds, win rates and matchups are derived from ranked match data obtained through the official Riot Games API, under Riot's API terms and developer policies. Player identifiers (Riot player ids, Riot IDs and summoner names) are used only while matches are being collected and are never saved. Each match is reduced to aggregated per-champion counts (for example, games and wins per champion, item and rune) and the raw match data is then discarded; the only thing kept besides those counts is the list of match ids, so the same game is never counted twice. We don't publish player names or match histories, and we don't combine game data with anything we know about visitors to the site.
Because no player identifiers are stored, data deletion requests that Riot Games forwards to developers (lists of player identifiers) have nothing to match in our data, and statistics already aggregated can't be traced back to a player.
All game information on RuneDiff is free. There is no paid access to game data; the site is funded only by ads and voluntary donations, which unlock nothing.
Donations
Donations are processed by Ko-fi, Patreon or PayPal on their own sites, under their privacy policies. RuneDiff never sees your payment details.
Your rights
EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR, UK GDPR, FADP)
Advertising and analytics rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and the ePrivacy rules for anything stored on your device), which you can withdraw at any time in Cookie settings. Hosting and security rely on our legitimate interest in running a safe website. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don't hold data that identifies you, most requests are best directed to Google for advertising data.
United States (California CCPA/CPRA and other state laws)
Letting ad partners use cookies for targeted advertising can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information (identifiers and internet activity) under these laws. You can opt out with "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" or a Global Privacy Control signal. We don't collect sensitive personal information, don't knowingly sell data of anyone under 16, and won't treat you differently for using your rights. You may also ask what personal information we hold and ask us to delete or correct it.
Children
The site isn't directed at children under 13 (16 in the EEA) and doesn't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes and contact
We'll update this page if anything changes and revise the date above. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
